A daily car rate alone cannot tell you whether renting will cost less than taxis or public transport. Include delivery, parking, fuel, tolls and any mileage charges in the comparison.

Plan visits around opening times and booked entry slots. For example, check Louvre Abu Dhabi's visitor information before arranging a Saadiyat stop. Group nearby destinations together where practical, and check parking at each location rather than assuming a rental guarantees convenient access.

For business travel, the useful questions are equally concrete: how many passengers are attending, whether a second driver needs approval, and how much time you have between meetings. Decide these before choosing the car.

Choosing the right vehicle, from a sedan to a luxury car

Start with the number of occupants and the luggage for the busiest part of your trip. A car that suits two people for dinner may not suit the airport journey with their suitcases. Check the actual vehicle's seating, boot space, access and equipment before confirming it.

Everyday use: A sedan can be a sensible starting point for city visits and business appointments. Compare the total quote and cabin space rather than assuming you need a larger vehicle for the Dubai–Abu Dhabi journey. Ask which models are available for your dates.

Families and groups: Count seats including the driver, then check luggage capacity with those seats in use. Seven seats do not establish how many large bags will fit. Arranging delivery from Dubai to Abu Dhabi

Superior's office is in Dubai. Arrange the handover in advance rather than assuming there is an Abu Dhabi branch or airport desk where you can collect a car without a confirmed appointment.

The delivery section on the BMW 740i listing, for example, shows AED 700 for Abu Dhabi or other emirates. Treat that as a listed delivery charge to confirm in your quote. Ask whether it applies to one journey or includes collection, and whether your chosen address, time or airport arrangements change the total.

Send the full hotel or residential address, delivery date and preferred time. For an airport request, include the airport, terminal and flight details, then agree the meeting point, parking charges and procedure if the flight changes. An airport line on a general vehicle listing is not confirmation of a particular Abu Dhabi airport handover.

Documents, drivers, insurance and the full quote

Have the team check eligibility before making travel plans around a particular car. Provide your residency status, age, passport and driving-licence issuing countries, how long you have held the licence, and the intended vehicle. Ask which original documents you must bring and whether an International Driving Permit is required for your circumstances.

UAE residents: Confirm the UAE driving licence, Emirates ID and payment requirements for your booking.

Visitors: Confirm the passport, entry documents, driving licence and any permit requirements together. Avoid relying on a general list of countries or assuming that a licence's language determines whether an additional permit is needed.

Insurance and deposits: Request the included cover, excess, exclusions and any optional cover in writing. Superior's terms exclude tyre and rim damage from basic insurance and CDW, so an upgrade should not be read as a promise of zero liability. Driving in Abu Dhabi: roads, Darb tolls and parking

Road planning: Follow posted speed limits and temporary restrictions. Do not assume a radar allowance or take faster traffic as permission to exceed the signs. Check the route before leaving, allow time for unfamiliar junctions, and pull over somewhere permitted if you need to change navigation settings.

Darb is separate from Dubai's Salik

Abu Dhabi has Darb tolls. The four bridge gates at Sas Al Nakhl, Al Maqta, Rabdan and Al Saadiyat charge AED 4 per crossing during the published windows: Monday–Saturday, 7–9 am and 3–7 pm, excluding official public holidays. Abu Dhabi Mobility's fee schedule provides the current peak-period tariff.

Al Qurm and Ghantoot follow a different schedule. The Abu Dhabi Media Office announcement confirms that these gates began operating on 4 May 2026 at AED 4 per crossing, 24 hours a day. Do not assume an evening or Sunday journey is free of Darb charges.

Check the parking category and restrictions

Abu Dhabi Mobility's Mawaqif guide distinguishes premium and standard public parking, with different fees and maximum stays. It also identifies resident-only restrictions. Check the signs at the space you use, select the correct vehicle details when paying, and keep the payment confirmation.

Ask your hotel or destination about its own parking and valet terms. Do not assume these spaces follow public-parking tariffs or are included with your stay. A paid parking session also does not override a resident-only restriction.

Fuel and practical considerations

Superior's fuel policy requires the car to be returned at the same fuel level as collection, with no compensation for excess fuel. Photograph the starting level and confirm the required petrol grade at handover. Use the actual vehicle's fuel-flap label or handbook, and resolve any conflicting instructions with the team before filling.

Budget using current pump prices and your planned distance. Fuel grades, return level and any refuelling charge are separate questions; confirm all three. Plan a suitable fuel stop before return and keep the receipt until the rental is settled.

For warm-weather trips, check that the air conditioning works at collection and allow time to cool the cabin before setting off. Keep water available and never leave a child or animal unattended in the vehicle.

Desert and track use: Superior's terms prohibit desert driving, racetrack use and drifting. Renting an SUV does not change those restrictions. Keep the itinerary within permitted use and ask about any uncertain route before travelling.

Common pitfalls at handover and return

Condition records: Take dated photographs around the car, including wheels, glass and existing marks. Record the mileage and fuel level, and have existing damage acknowledged on the handover record. Repeat the inspection at return and keep the paperwork.

Mileage: Include the journey from Dubai if you collect there, local travel and the agreed return route. Ask whether the allowance applies each day or across the booking. If plans change, obtain the cost of extra mileage or an extension before relying on it.

Timing: Allow time for traffic, refuelling, parking access and the return inspection. Contact the team promptly if you expect a delay, and agree any extension and charge. Do not assume a delayed flight automatically changes the rental end time.

Later charges: Request itemised toll or fine details, including the vehicle, date and time, and ask how provider charges are calculated. Keep rental records until any remaining amounts are resolved. In an incident, follow the reporting procedure in the agreement and contact the relevant authorities and rental team as required.

Business trips, events and longer stays

For work travel, confirm invoice details, authorised drivers and delivery access at the office or hotel. For an event, give the team the venue and timing so the quote and handover plan reflect the actual booking. Reserving early lets you check options; availability and price still need written confirmation.

For a longer stay, compare the quoted weekly or monthly total with the daily alternative. Check mileage, maintenance arrangements and early-return terms, rather than assuming a longer booking always saves money.
